I'm a software engineer based in Hyōgo, Japan. I currently work at a large Japanese company, and before that was CTO at a startup and cofounder & CTO of another venture, both in Japan, with some time as a software engineer in the US too. Born and raised in the US, I now live in Japan with my three kids.
This is a small bilingual site for writing and the occasional package, built with Astro. Most of what's here comes out of two things I keep coming back to: getting AI models running locally on hardware that isn't really built for it (a Radeon 780M mini PC, mostly), and small quantitative tools for Japanese stocks. Outside of that, I like home improvement and games with my kids, and finding good cafes.

gfx1103) integrated GPU, 32GB shared DDR5, no discrete GPU. Runs ComfyUI-TheRock for local image, video, and music generation. Uses Ollama and Unsloth Desktop with local coding-agent harnesses for LLM work. - Raspberry Pi 2 32-bit, about a gig of RAM. Runs a Japanese value-stock screener end to end: fetch, score, backtest, serve.
